Carpet class

we went to bare-foot carpet parties there
deep blue, thick-pile beneath our feet
take your shoes off before entering
they had a porch, we called them posh

then peter was sick in the deep pile
and when they told him off his mum said
it was their fault for having smart carpets

we didn't have bare-foot carpet parties there any more
and peter's mum said:
too posh for us now are they?

we'd suspected as much all along
